To better protect our MITS emails, additional email security filters have been added across our Microsoft tenant.
Unfortunately, phishing, and compromised accounts have become increasingly common. These protections block a large amount of spam and suspicious email, but occasionally legitimate messages may get caught too.
Because of this, we recommend periodically checking your Microsoft quarantine and adding known, trusted senders to your contacts or Safe Senders list.
How to Check Your Microsoft Quarantine
You may get the following emails from Microsoft that looks like the screenshot placed here, if you haven't you may be able to move down to the next section with the link.
Go to: https://security.microsoft.com/quarantine
Sign in with your Made in the Shade Microsoft account.
Review the messages listed and look at the sender's actual email address, not just the displayed name.
If you recognize the sender and know the email is legitimate:
- Select the message.
- Choose Release or Release message.
- Add the sender to your contacts or Safe Senders list if you regularly communicate with them.
Only release messages from senders you know and trust. If anything looks suspicious, leave it quarantined and contact support@madeintheshade.com for help.
Add Trusted Senders in Outlook
For people or companies, you regularly communicate with:
- Open Outlook.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Mail.
- Select Junk email.
- Find Safe senders and domains.
- Add the trusted email address.
Whenever possible, add the specific email address instead of allowing an entire domain.
It is also helpful to add important customers, vendors, and business contacts to your Outlook contacts.
If Your Emails Are Going to Someone Else's Spam
If a customer or vendor tells you that your Made in the Shade emails are going to their spam or quarantine, first ask them to:
- Mark your email as “Not Junk.”
- Add your email address to their contacts.
- Add your email address to their Safe Senders list.
- Check their email quarantine if they use Outlook.
If this keeps happening with multiple different recipients, please contact support@madeintheshade.com so we can investigate the account and email delivery.
When contacting us, please include:
- Your email address
- The recipient's email address
- The subject line
- Approximate date and time of the email was sent.
- A screenshot of any spam, quarantine, or bounce-back message
A Quick Reminder
These filters are intentionally more protective than they were previously. They may occasionally catch a legitimate email, but they also stop a significant amount of spam, phishing, and malicious email before it reaches your inbox.
The easiest way to improve your experience is to add legitimate customers, vendors, and business contacts to your contacts and Safe Senders list.
If you are unsure whether a quarantined email is safe, do not release or click anything in it. Contact support@madeintheshade.com for assistance.
